The FreeStyle Libre 3 receiver is a standalone device for viewing glucose readings without a smartphone. It’s important to note that the receiver only works with FreeStyle Libre 3 and FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensors and is not compatible with Libre 2, Libre 2 Plus, or other CGM systems. Data from the sensor transfers automatically and continuously over Bluetooth, with no scanning required — readings appear on screen as soon as the device is turned on.
The receiver is a good fit for anyone who doesn’t want to deal with an app or set up a UK Apple ID, for children and teens without their own smartphone, and for older adults who prefer a simple, single-purpose device. I was so happy to see that a reader for the Freestyle Libre 3 is finally available in Ukraine. We were just about to switch from Libre 2 to Libre 3, but the lack of a reader was holding us back. We prefer the reader itself over the phone app. We’ve already tested it, everything works great, the reader is made in Germany (has an English interface option). It’s convenient that you don’t need to scan the sensor – the readings automatically appear on the reader when you turn it on. I can recommend it for monitoring glucose levels – very convenient and comfortable.
