Dexcom’s continuous glucose monitoring works as a pair: a sensor plus a smartphone app. But users in Ukraine almost always trip up on the very first step — the app they need isn’t available on the Ukrainian Google Play. This guide shows how to install the Dexcom apps on Android correctly and safely — for the G6, G7, and ONE+ sensors.
This is the point people mix up most often: Dexcom released a separate app for each sensor line, and they are not interchangeable.
Before installing, check the box to confirm which model you have, and download the matching app. The Dexcom G7 app will not detect a ONE+ sensor, and vice versa.
This is where Dexcom differs from Abbott: the apps don’t run on just any Android phone — only on models from the manufacturer’s verified compatibility list. The reason is that Dexcom transmits data over Bluetooth in the background, and on unverified firmware the signal can drop.

If your phone isn’t compatible, that’s not a dead end — you can still read your numbers on a separate Dexcom G7 receiver, which works entirely without a smartphone.
The Dexcom apps don’t exist as one single global app — they’re released as separate regional versions, for the UK, Poland, Germany, and other markets. There’s no official Ukrainian version on Google Play yet, so searching from a Ukrainian account simply won’t show the app.
The workaround is to temporarily “move” your phone to a region where the app is available (the UK, for example) using a VPN and a new Google account. This is a common approach for region-locked medical apps: the app itself remains an official Dexcom product from the official store.
Any reliable VPN with UK servers will work. The VPN is only needed so Google Play shows you the UK version of the store — without it, the system will detect your actual location.
Open the app and connect to a server in the United Kingdom. The status will change to “Protected” (or similar) — that’s your signal the connection is active and you can move on.
While the VPN is active, start creating a new Google account: first and last name, date of birth, a strong password. It’s important to create a genuinely new account rather than sign in to an existing one — otherwise Google Play will “remember” your real region and show the Ukrainian store again.
Search for the app you need: Dexcom G6, Dexcom G7, or Dexcom ONE+. Confirm the developer is listed as Dexcom, Inc. Tap “Install.”
Open the app and create a Dexcom account (or sign in to an existing one). When choosing your country, select United Kingdom — this determines your units of measurement. The UK version uses mmol/L, the same standard used in Ukraine. If you select the US instead, readings will show in mg/dL, which is harder to change later.
This is the step people skip most often — and it’s exactly why the app later “can’t see the sensor” or “isn’t sending notifications.” After installing, check the following in your phone’s settings:
One more thing: on Android 15, don’t move the Dexcom app into “Private Space” — it won’t send notifications there, and you’ll have to reconnect the sensor after moving it back.
